abstract = "The fire dynamics in Amazonian-Savanna transition region is very
studied, however, in Maranh{\~a}o state is less investigated than
other regions in Brazil. This work evaluated the climatic and
temporal aspects of fire dynamics as well as the relationship
between fire occurrence and deforestation in Maranh{\~a}o. Were
used fire data product from MODIS sensor, deforestation data form
the PRODES project and precipitation data from meteorological
stations belong to National Institute of Meteorology of Brazil.
The results showed that fire occurrence in Amazonian Forest region
is more strongly modulated by climatic conditions than
Maranh{\~a}o Savanna. In both biomes, Amazonian forest and
Maranh{\~a}o Savanna the drought occurrence increase the fire
                         events during studied period.",
